Creating Swirls in Inkscape by MrTentacleguy Creating Swirls in Inkscape by MrTentacleguy
This is my very first tutorial. It's about creating swirls in Inkscape. It should be very easy to follow. If you don't have Inkscape yet, download it at [link] for free.
Try this tutorial, you will see, it's a fast and easy way to achieve a wonderful effect with better results than drawing by hand.

Comments are appreciated.

Yes. You seemed to forgot the latter part of the 3. The Pattern.

Wow, this message is, like, one year old! Well, hopefully it helps anyway! :D

I saw the word "Swirls" in the title and you had my heart. XD I love how you did the swirls at the end of the tutorial. They're so pretty. But seriously, <3. :la: XD

Compare to some of the other inkscape tutorials I've seen, this is pretty simple. Never the less, I like how you did this tutorial as it is easy to follow.

Thanks for this tutorial, it really helped! I was having issues with it for a minute with step 4. My swirl was going on my pattern, instead of vise a versa, but I figured out that you don't have to choose the pattern first...the pattern just has to be the top most in your selections....like layer topmost. I am in Inkscape .46 so it may of changed a little. Just thought I would let you know!
Thank You Again! :skull:

I need to tweak around in Inkscape a bit more to get the hang of it, it's an awesome tool.

I just figured out what the issue was. It was on fill and stroke at the same time.

NOW I can give this a go!

Doesn't work for me buddy.

Everytime I use the Bezier Curve tool, it auto fills the space. I never get just a swirl like that. It always tries to make a shape out of it, no matter what I do.

Hello MrTentacle,

One thing about your cool tutorial, is that it doesn't specify that you have to subdivide the "pattern" and not the "swirl".
Hope i'm not repeating nobody on this issue, but thank a bunch, anyway, on your sharing of this tutorial.

Carlos

looks good to me. all you have to do then is to delete the original single path and fill the just created path with some color you like.
